This blog is about our visit to the historical cities of Minas Gerais
In the 17th and 18th century Minas Gerais became the economic center of the colony, with a rapid settlement. In 1709, they created the Captaincy of São Paulo and Minas de Ouro, separated from the Province of the Espírito Santo. In 1720, the Captaincy of Minas Gerais was separated from the Captaincy of São Paulo, with its capital Vila Rica (Ouro Preto today).

WHAT TO DO
You can visit “Ouro Preto Theater” with the chance of attending the performance of the teller of tales, Dona Célia Nazaré who includes in her work comedy, drama and so on.
Another place that is worth visiting is “Oficina de escultura em pedra” where you have the opportunity to create a stone sculpture with the supervision of an artist called Beth. We recommend you go to Tião Paineira´s pottery house in Tiradentes where you learn how to shape ceramics and enjoy some stories. You can walk around the historoical cities, enjoy the view and the beautiful architecture. Ouro Preto is a wonderful place if you are looking for crafts with excellent prices. The most traditional material used to make crafts is soapstone.
